New Zealand Certificate in Foundation Skills (Level 2) – Trades Skills for Industries pathway (Manufacturing and Technology)

Sample a range of skills within the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, while gaining career, study, and employment skills at the same time. Students will get introductory skills in engines, brake systems, collision repair, metalwork and fastening systems. Learn how to safely use and maintain tools, perform calculations and choose materials to complete projects. After completing this programme, students can then go on to study their trade of choice.

What you will learn

Work on real projects to gain the skills needed to work in an entry-level position in the automotive, motor body, or engineering industries.

  • Learn about Engines, Collision Repair, Metalwork, and Welding
  • Learn how to safely use and maintain trade tools and equipment
  • Learn how to read and interpret technical manuals and instructions
  • Perform trade calculations
  • Understand Health and Safety protocols
  • Learn about materials, assembly, and fastening techniques

*Classes for this programme are from Monday to Wednesday, 9:00am - 4:00pm.
