Wondering what student groups we have on campus? Learn about what student groups are on offer at Whitireia and WelTec, and see where you can get involved.
LEAP (Leadership, Engagement, Action & Participation) is a Whitireia and WelTec leadership development programme that connects students with the local community and industry. It’s an opportunity for you to meet new people, volunteer and participate in a variety of fun events both on, and off campus. We also hold social events that help bring all LEAP students together to meet and have fun.
LEAP is about building on 4 key elements: Leadership, Engagement, Action & Participation. Primarily focused on community engagement but we do hold workshops with guest speakers giving examples from their journeys and relate back to LEAP. Networking is another key aspect LEAP provides, as it’s a great place to meet fellow students and make connections too.
The workshops have been led by outstanding people, like Matt Lamason from Peoples Coffee and Lower Hutt mayor Campbell Barry, who discuss their journey in relation to LEAP. We hold social events for the LEAP group throughout the year too.
