This year, Whitireia and WelTec will be celebrating Epetoma o te reo Māori Kūki ‘Āirani - Cook Islands Māori Language Week with online events. The theme for this week is ‘Ātui’ia au ki te vaka o tōku matakeinanga’ which means to 'connect me to the canoe of my tribe'.
A calendar of events and resources will be available before the week! Check back soon. In the meantime, practice adding these Cook Islands phrases into your everyday:
- Kia Orāna - Greetings/Hello
- Kia Orāna kōtou kātoatoa - Greetings to you all
- 'Inē? - Please
