If you’ve gained relevant skills and knowledge through study or experiences in work or other activities, you might be able to receive credit for these when enrolling in a programme of study with us. This is done through a process called Credit Recognition, which includes cross credit, credit transfer and recognition of prior learning (RPL). Credit recognition can’t exceed two-thirds of your chosen programme.
A cross-credit may be awarded when you have credit for a similar course or courses when a minimum of eighty per cent of the learning outcomes are covered for the course for which you seek the credit.
Credit transfer is awarded when you have previously successfully completed an identical course. The original grade is recorded.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) assesses evidence of what you have already learned from life experiences, work experiences and any training courses provided at work, against the learning outcomes of a course. You need to have met the essential learning outcomes to be awarded the course credit or may be asked to sit a test, attend an interview, or submit a portfolio to confirm you have met the learning outcomes.
If you think you may qualify for RPL or cross credit, please ask the Enrolment and Student Information team (EOSI) or speak to the School. It’s important to do this as soon as possible so that you can be clear as to which course/s you may have credit for, and therefore should not enrol in.
An application form can be requested from EOSI or the School administrator. A course tutor will be assigned to advise and support you in your application.
