Dr Arif Ali

Arif teaches several papers such as Introduction to Business Analysis, Knowledge Management, Leadership and Organisational Management papers. He supervises Industry Project students, supporting their research projects where they study local business challenges and recommend solutions. Arif has a vast range of experiences from working at the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Christchurch Mosque attacks to working as a part of the Census 2018 for Stats NZ. He completed his PhD in Information Systems from Victoria University of Wellington in 2017.  


Guoyang Chen  

Guoyang considers himself a global citizen. After completing a Master’s degree in Events Management in the UK, Guoyang moved to Cape Town, South Africa and worked as a Chinese Volunteer Advisor in an international volunteer and internship travel agency. He has a great passion for the hospitality and tourism industry, so he built a volunteer travel information website He has a PhD in Tourism Management from Victoria University of Wellington.  


Greg Broughton  

An accounting graduate of Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), Greg is a chartered accountant with many years of experience working for one of the big international accounting firms in Audit and later in Tax. Greg currently teaches accounting, taxation, accounting information systems, and auditing, but he was previously a course supervisor, team leader and programme manager looking after the NZ Diploma in Business (level 6) and the NZIM Diploma in Management(level 5).   


Dr. Fahimi Ali  

Dr. Fahimi has a PhD in Information Systems from Victoria University of Wellington, and business degrees from Malaysian universities. Over his career, he has held prestigious roles such as Group Managing Director and Senior Public Affairs Manager in global companies. His main research focus is on information sharing and decision making during a disaster. Dr. Fahimi has strong connections to the industry: he is an Advisory Member of the Social Science & Humanities Research Association, provides advice and consultations to a group of business organisations from NZ and Malaysia for business matching, and has been appointed to teach New Zealand diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.  


Cyril Peter JP  

Cyril has a long and successful history in the hospitality industry, and the qualifications to match. He has worked for and owned businesses overseas and in New Zealand. He is currently focused on food security, sport and event terrorism, cruise safety and how and why tourists choose particular destinations 



Conrad Spohr  

Conrad has been at WelTec for 4 years working as the student project coordinator, helping students make contact with possible businesses. He also teaches the Level 6 Introduction to Supply Chain Management class. Conrad has a BA in Supply Chain Management and has worked in that industry for over 10 years. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa, Conrad I travelled to Europe and lived in the UK & Germany, where he was the co-owner of a business consultancy firm. He is currently studying towards a Master's in Business Studies through Massey University where his focus is on sustainability and looking into supply chains and how sustainability influences them.  


Swati Puri

Swati is an experienced Accounting and Finance lecturer with more than 15 years of work experience in academics at renowned business schools in New Zealand and India. Having done an MBA with specialization in Finance, Post Graduate Diploma in Research Methodology and New Zealand Certificate in Adult & Tertiary Teaching, she has the skills to cater to students from all backgrounds. Swati is passionate about tertiary education and encourages collaborative learning and research among students. A keen researcher, Swati has published papers and articles in journals and print media. Her research interest areas include corporate finance, investment management, and corporate governance. 


Parina Yamjal  

Parina is a passionate educator who focuses on delivering business courses, counselling, monitoring, and evaluating the success of learners by providing support and guidance. She holds a Master’s degree in Commerce and a New Zealand Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching. Before working at W&W, she worked at government organizations like MBIE and WorkSafe NZ. 


Laurence Jujnovich  

Laurence has been with Whitireia since 2007, giving back to his community by inspiring students to do their best. Before teaching, his career was in manufacturing operations and service operations. He prides himself on using his work experience and knowledge to help students make sense of the textbook theories, helping future generations of workers and leaders to make their way in the world. Laurence teaches a very broad range of business subjects such as HR, marketing, O & M, strategic management, project management, operations management, finance, business statistics and economics. His current focus is finance, economics, business statistics and the new major of Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics Management.  


Olkan Guler  

Olkan joined Whitireia Polytech in 2006 and previously taught at University of Canterbury. He became a Chartered Accountant in 2015 and is currently studying towards his PhD in Business Administration. He has taught courses in the areas of financial management, operations management, project management, applied economics, investment analysis, and accounting. A member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Olkan is a regular contributor to NZ Management Accounting Conference and has written a book chapter on business research methods.
