Health & Safety

The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is very important to us. We work hard to make sure everyone is safe on all of our campuses.

All campuses are smokefree because we support a healthy work and study environment for all. This means that no person is permitted to smoke on any campus, which includes all buildings or parts of buildings, land holdings and perimeters (including car parks and green spaces) that are under our management.

How to stay safe

Remember, you’re also responsible for your own safety when you’re at a Whitireia & WelTec campus. You can stay safe by:

  • making sure you’ve declared any and all medical issues on your enrolment forms

  • following safety directions and rules

  • knowing what to do in case of fire and emergency

  • telling a staff member about any hazards or dangers on campus that you know of

  • wearing the right personal protective equipment in class, such as safety glasses and earmuffs.

Emergency evacuation procedures

Our staff are prepared for emergencies and disasters, but here’s what you need to do in an emergency.

  • check where the nearest exits are in the building or buildings you occupy

  • read the Emergency Procedures information brochures displayed on all floors of the Whitireia & WelTec buildings

  • know your nearest designated assembly areas for the building/s you occupy
