Getting around Wellington is a breeze. Whether you like biking, walking, running, or bussing, Wellington is an easy city to navigate.



Walking Wellington is small, so it’s a walkable city. The city centre is only 2km in diameter. Walking from one side to the other takes less than 30 minutes.
Public transport

Public transport in Wellington is safe and easy. The journey planner from Metlink is a really good tool for planning trips. Get a snapper card for cheaper bus fares. 

Cycling Cycling is a popular option in Wellington, even with the hills! If you don’t want to buy a bike, use the bike-sharing schemeOnzo.


Culture and Leisure

Known as New Zealand's creative capital, Wellington has a lot going on in arts and cultural events. All of these venues are walking distance from our Hospitality Campus and Te Auaha campuses. 

Museums Entry to museums is free. They often hold talks, exhibitions and different events. Some of the most popular museums are Wellington MuseumsTe Papa, City Gallery WellingtonNew Zealand Cricket Museum.
Live music There's a great mix of small venues and larger venues here. You can usually find live music on most nights of the week. Some of Wellington’s most popular venues are San FranMeowValhalla, and the TSB Arena.
Theatre Theatre fans love Wellington. We have a mix of historical venues and purpose-built theatres. If you fancy a show check out BATS TheatreCirca TheatreSt James TheatreThe Opera House.
Sports Sports fan? Wellington is the place for you. For sports events like cricket, soccer, and rugby, check out Westpac Stadium and Basin Reserve.



Wellington has a reputation for producing world-class cocktails, wines, and craft beers. Many bars produce their own beers in-house and there's a huge choice of artisan cocktail bars as well. Remember to always drink responsibly.

Wellington is a city, but it has plenty of outdoor activities on offer. We have a huge number of beaches right in walking distance from our Wellington campus. You can go biking on the waterfront, kayaking in the marina, and rambling up Mount Victoria.
